DARAGH MULDOWNEY

Specialising in fine art photography projects Daragh Muldowney has exhibited his work both in Ireland and internationally.

Daragh’s interest in photography originally developed, when he completed a Scuba Diving course in 1992, where he was awestruck by the experience of being underwater. Life under the sea seemed like another world, where he made an instant connection with the elements.

Shortly after Daragh bought a  thirty year old camera that he still uses occasionally today, and began to take photographs to convey his experiences and love of nature. His photography aims to present the smaller details of nature that we often overlook. As a result, his work gently reminds us to appreciate our beautiful planet.

His collection ‘Jewellery Box – Ireland’s Hidden Gems’ exhibited in Ireland and to 5 cities in the USA, Mexico City, Berlin and Dubai with the support of Culture Ireland and the Department of Foreign Affairs.

His ‘Out of Thin Air’ collection and photobook received wonderful acclaim and the 2015 FEP European Photobook of the year award in the landscape category.

Daragh spent several weeks at the Lake Baikal, Siberia in winter 2018 and 2019. He is currently working on a new book inspired by his travels to Lake Baikal.
