Concept and Theme : An tOileán : The Island

IrishLight aims to draw the best professional Irish based landscape photographers together, bring international photographers to Ireland while also mobilising the amazing enthusiastic talent that exists both here and abroad. The festival provides a platform for inspiring exhibitions and education. The Irish landscape provides the perfect backdrop.

The theme of this years festival is ‘An tOileán’. Translated to English this means ‘The Island’. We are of course an island nation, and in many ways our artistic pursuit is a solitary one. The masters exhibition and the workshop programme will very much reflect these ideas. This year’s programme includes:

7 simultaneous PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS and the creation of a unique body of work by participants.

THE BIG DAY. A full day of inspiration with Irish and international speakers. Lee Filters and Nikon will also be present.

THE IRISHLIGHT COLLECTION 2016 book and exhibition launch.

THE IRISH MASTERS EXHIBITION drawing the best landscape photographers in Ireland together for a unique show.

FREE TALKS on all things Irish landscape taking place throughout Dublin.

THE IRISHLIGHT OPEN CALL. A Nikon sponsored competition to find the best amateur images of the Irish landscape.
