‘An image I wanted to make for many years having viewed other images and always felt there was the potential for a great image with a more face on perspective.

I had been attending a landscape photography seminar in the UK and had given myself an additional two days to explore the Peak District but half way through the final talk, I realised my strongest work comes from the landscape I have the greatest connection to.  So I hastily re-arranged my ferry for that night, arrived back on Irish soil and drove through the night to get to the west coast of Mayo and Downpatrick Head for 7am.

Although it was relatively dark the long exposure I wanted required my Lee Filters Pro Glass ND filter to get the near 3 min exposure at f8.0, ISO 100 plus a LEE Filters .9 ND Grad on the top to balance out the sky which was brightening by the minute.

Lying down as low as I could with the camera placed further below me on a little ledge, I dropped the front element of my Canon TSE 24 mm Tilt Shift lens to achieve the more face on view and cut out the divergence you see on my shots of this wonderful sea stack.’

We say worth the drive Norman..Great image:)
