Instructional Tip – The Dark Side – Connemara

We are big fans of dark moody pictures. That’s why the IrishLight suits us so well. It’s nothing if not dark and moody. Try darken the corners of your images beyond a simple vignette to drive the viewers eye in the desired direction. This helps to emphasise mood and specific features within an image. This can be done in camera with graduated ND filters or in post with gradient filters and brush work in Lightroom or ACR. Check out the insane breaking light over the 12 Ben’s. Peter Gordon takes credit for this one.
