MARK LITTLEJOHN

MARK LITTLEJOHN

Mark Littlejohn is an ageing Scotsman exiled to the edges of the Lake District where he has lived some thirty odd years. He took up photography purely to record the details of his various walks in the northern Lake District, little realising that photography was to take over his life.

Despite being a relatively late starter to the world of Landscape photography he has received a number of awards, both home and abroad, culminating in being named the Take a View UK Landscape Photographer of the Year for 2014.

Mark’s style and subject matter is continually evolving but tends to revolve around woodland scenes. He specialises in early morning starts and has been known to start his days as early as 1am in order to climb to favourite vantage point. He lives for those occasions when the early morning mists start to be burned off by the rising sun bathing scenes in beautifully soft diffuse light. On those occasions he has found that the ‘little’ view can be far more effective than the ‘grand’ one.

Mark would far rather capture a scene than create one: he spends as little time as possible in front of a computer processing his images, making only basic adjustments with Adobe Lightroom and Nik Silver Efex being his weapons of choice. His aim when processing is to enhance what he sees as the essence of the mood of an image.
