Workshop Information

Norman McCloskey is one of Ireland’s foremost landscape photographers. Based in Kenmare, Norman runs a stunning gallery in the town selling his fine art photography in a range of beautiful finishes. Norman is on the cusp of releasing his second book following the success of Parklight. And you’ve guessed it, the book focuses on Beara. This workshop is an opportunity to explore Beara with someone that has a  unique vision and knowledge of the area. Most locations can be reached easily, but a moderate to good level of fitness is essential. There will be a few steep, but short climbs needed as well as other walks up to 50 minutes. This will not be for everyone, but for others a unique chance to get off the beaten track.

Theme and Concept

The concept of the IrishLight workshops is to create a unique body of work, guided by workshop leaders, and executed by you the participants. Your images from the workshop will form the IrishLight Collection in 2019 and will be promoted both domestically and internationally as a collection of work. The goal will be the creation of a book and exhibition as part of the festival in 2019. A workshop with a real difference.

This year’s theme is ‘Kings and Rebels’. Expect your work to be turned into an exhibition and a book all in aid of charity. A workshop like no other. Peter Gordon will liaise with you after the workshop, help you edit and prepare your work, for final presentation.

Workshop Weekend Programme

We do not set out a specific location itinerary, as Norman will bring you to the best locations under prevailing light conditions.

The workshop commences on Thursday afternoon. After a welcoming discussion, we will get out for an afternoon shoot and sunset. Friday & Saturday will entail sunrise to sunset shooting with a short break after breakfast to maximise our chances of making great shots. We will finish up on Sunday after our sunrise shoot. Logistics of the trip will be emailed to participants when they sign up for the workshop.

Following the workshop, Peter Gordon will curate the IrishLight Collection created from the workshops and edit (if you want) your images for inclusion.
